It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Susan Anthony — amazing mother to Jake and wife to Gerald, and a much cherished member of the BACI family. Susan passed away on Monday morning after a courageous and tenacious battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer.
Susan was a passionate advocate for persons with disabilities for the past 17 years. A long-standing member — and Co-Chair — of BACI’s Advocacy Committee, she was awarded BACI’s 2017 Lifetime Membership Award in recognition of her significant contribution to improving the lives of people with disabilities. Last week, Susan was awarded the 2018 Local Hero Award from the City of Burnaby for Outstanding Contributions To The Community. Susan’s proudest achievement, of course, was supporting her son Jake to be the person he is today.
We extend our deepest sympathy to Jake, Gerald and her other family and friends. Susan was a charismatic person who made an impact on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Susan’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Susan’s name can be made to Metastatic Breast Cancer Canada — an organization that Susan helped to found.
